Law Offices of Lawrence R. Bynum, A Prof. Corp.
Real Estate Professionals
My early experience included a month long jury trial involving multi-million dollar professional liability complaint. Thereafter, I joined Mugg & Harper as part of their expanded civil litigation practice. While an associate, in addition to the demands of litigation, regular reports to insurance carriers and principals were prepared, along with detailed budgets. While my primary responsibilities included insurance defense litigation, I simultaneously expanded the private business and real estate litigation cases within the office. As a result, I have extensive experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants and a concomitant understanding of the process for all parties.
I have tried cases in Superior Courts throughout California. In addition, I successfully represented appellants and respondents in the Court of Appeal and the California Supreme Court. I have tried cases in U.S. Federal District court, the Bankruptcy Court and the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel. Finally, I have extensive administrative law experience. I have initiated or responded to administrative petitions regarding a host of agencies, including, but not limited to, the Dept. of Motor Vehicles; Dept. of Corporations; the State Bar; Dept. of Real Estate; local water boards and a host of public agencies.
In 2000, I opened the Law Offices of Lawrence R. Bynum, A Professional Corporation. During that time, the firm’s focus was on commercial and real estate litigation. For example, I was involved in numerous cases involving the purchase or sale of real estate. I am versed in broker and agent fiduciary duties or their breach, such as their failure to disclose material aspects of a transaction or when they act as an agent for both the buyer and seller. I have handled escrow and title insurance problems. Land use problems abound, and can manifest themselves with issues involving easements, boundary lines, lot splits, encroachments and similar problems. I am knowledgeable about development codes, zoning, code enforcement and alleged violations involving local municipalities. Disputes involving partnerships, limited liability companies and corporation are commonplace, and their dissolution and accounting. I am well versed in the partition of jointly owned real estate. My construction law practice has grown to include representing clients in non-litigation matters including drafting and reviewing construction documents for projects of all sizes as well as related construction services. I am general counsel to business clients in a full range of areas including, wage and hour laws, premises liability and preemptive strategies to limit the exposure to litigation.
I am an experienced and successful litigator. One of my primary goals is to continually provide clients with a cost-benefit analysis at all stages of litigation. I pride myself on my communications with clients, by providing email copies of all correspondence, pleadings or other developments in their cases in real time. Many clients have been surprised to speak or receive emails from me in the early morning, late evening and on holidays and weekends. I understand that I provide professional legal counseling, which requires immediate response to clients. I explain legal situations and the practical ramifications in plain English so that my clients can better assess their legal needs. I look forward to assisting you.
When I am not working, I am a husband and proud father of three high school students. I particularly enjoy fishing, football, reading and travel with my friends and family.
I have been a civil trial attorney for nearly 20 years. Throughout my career, I have been involved in complex litigation involving real property, contracts, businesses, insurance or governmental agencies. The first five years of my career focused on insurance defense litigation. I was involved in motor vehicle related accidents and injuries, wrongful death cases, professional malpractice, landowner liability issues and public entity defense. I handled these cases from pre-trial consultation; law and motion phase; deposition and subpoenas; expert discovery; and trial. Naturally, once a judgment is entered, legal services are not fully performed, so after trial I have enforced or prevented enforcement of millions of dollars of judgments in state court or Bankruptcy court. Of course, most cases do not result in a judgment, as alternative dispute resolution successfully concludes most cases. I have considerable expertise in mediations, as both a litigant and mediator; arbitrations, again representing parties or as the arbitrator, binding arbitration proceedings and all types of settlement conferences.
With more than 20 years of experience real estate, contract and business law, the Law Offices of Lawrence R. Bynum, A Prof. Corp provides professional service to its clients. My office will research your situation, provide you with a comprehensive analysis and provide a litigation budget to assist you with your legal needs.
